ハーバード大 Nan Laird教授を迎え、シンポジウムを開催させていただくこととなりました。Nan Laird教授には、医学研究に携わる生物統計家の今後の課題と来る好機について、大橋 靖雄 教授には、昨今大きな話題となっている、研究における倫理について取り上げていただく予定です。生物統計の未来を日米の第一人者が講演し、医学・医療のコミュニケーションの将来もみすえた企画となっております。
You are invited to our annual symposium on biostatistics featuring Dr. Nan Laird, Professor of Biostatistics at Harvard University. Dr. Laird will discuss the future issues and opportunities for biostatisticians, and Dr. Ohashi, Professor of Biostatistics, The University of Tokyo, will lecture on ethics in clinical and epidemiological studies.

Nan M. Laird 先生のご紹介
Dr. Laird is Harvey V. Fineberg Professor of Public Health and Professor of Biostatistics, Harvard School of Public Health. She served as Chair of the Department, and was the Henry Pickering Walcott Professor of Biostatistics from 1990 to 1999. She has contributed to methodology in many different fields, including missing data, EM-algorithm, meta-analysis, statistical genetics, and has coauthored a book with Garrett Fitzmaurice and James Ware on Applied Longitudinal Analysis. She is the recipient of many awards and prizes, including Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Florence Nightingale Award, and the Janet Norwood Award. Recently, she has published a book entitled “The Fundamentals of Modern Statistical Genetics”.
